Admission is decided as a whole: two trial days at the school, and an interview with your family.

Admission assessment入園選考について

Admission to RaJA Global Academy is decided by looking at the whole picture — two trial days at the school and an interview with the family. It is not a test of what your child knows. We are looking at whether our way of teaching fits your family, and at where your child is right now in their development.

The admission calendar for the year. Across April to March it shows three assessment rounds — the first (applications open 1 May, assessment 1 June to 20 July, interviews 21 to 31 July, results posted in the first week of August), the second (applications open 1 August, assessment 1 September to 20 October, interviews 21 to 31 October, results posted in the first week of November) and the third (applications open 1 September, assessment 1 November to 15 December, interviews 16 to 25 December, results posted at the end of December) — together with the year-round intake window for new children and the separate window for transfers. We assess three times a year.

Applications from new families are open all year round, and children transferring from another school have their own separate track. Application forms are handed out at school tours and at the admission briefing.

If you are moving here from another prefecture or from overseas, or your child needs support as a non-Japanese national, please contact us before you apply.

Why we assess考査の意図について

An assessment is not a way of sorting children. It is how we check that your family and RaJA are facing the same direction, and that we can take responsibility for your child.

We do not assess in order to measure what a child can already do.

We believe the single most important condition for a child is that the family and the school face the same way — that we share how we think about education and about care.

However good an environment we prepare, if our understanding and a family’s values differ sharply, the right environment for that child becomes hard to build. So the assessment is also an important chance to check that our thinking and yours line up.

RaJA is not simply an unlicensed nursery, and not simply an international school. What sets it apart is that the English, the inquiry and the expressive work all sit on a solid foundation of ordinary, attentive childcare.

That is exactly why we look carefully at where each child is in their development, and consider honestly whether, once they join, we can watch over that child and raise them responsibly.

We look at more than the one child in front of us: how they are within a group, and how much support they will need. Taking that wider view is what lets a child feel safe after they join, and grow into themselves.

A RaJA assessment is not there only to produce a yes or a no. It is the doorway through which your family and ours think together about whether this really is the right place for your child.
