We are an international early-years school founded by a study-abroad company. You would work at RaJA GLOBAL ACADEMY in Koraicho.

The work

  • Every day: cooking and serving lunch and snacks, and clearing up
  • Sometimes: food education and special dishes for events
  • You cook from menus and instructions written by a registered dietitian
  • A little paperwork that comes with serving meals (we will show you how)

Why here

We cook everything on site so the children taste as much as possible — so that wherever in the world they end up, they can enjoy their food.

Eating home-made food is tasting love. No qualification is needed: if you cook at home, you can do this, and we think you will enjoy it.

Who we are looking for

  • A year of cooking in a nursery is ideal, but other cooking experience is fine
  • People who want to work somewhere international, and who love children
  • Any age, any gender
  • A cook’s licence (preferred)

  • Bring your child to work if there is a place (¥5,000 a month)

Working here, with your own child here too.

Whatever the job — childcare teacher, cook, language teacher — many of our staff bring their own children to the school they work at. Plenty of them started out as parents here, and they stay on after their children graduate.

RaJA runs on that kind of care. It is the people who keep pace with us, feeling the same way, who make the quality of the teaching and the value of each day here.

  • 1 in 5of the group’s staff come from outside Japan
  • With their own childrenmany staff have their child at the school
  • Direct applicantsare given preference

Nine ways we workわたしたちの、9つの働き方

What RaJA’s staff hold to, every day on the floor.

  1. Throw out habits and assumptions

“We do it because we always have” — clinging to traditions and values just because they are hard to change is pointless.

  2. Trust, and hand it over

If the job were simply to do what the head of school says, what would a childcare qualification be for?

  3. A mistake is a chance to think bigger

A “failure” is only today’s result. The moment you ask what to do next, it is no longer the worst thing — it turns into learning. In life there is only success or learning, and this is a place to work with that frame of mind.

  4. Don’t judge

Across the group, one person in five comes from outside Japan. The point is not to feel the world’s differences as something odd, but to enjoy them. None of us is perfect enough to judge others by our own yardstick. We are grateful to have people to understand and to learn from.

  5. Back to why

Childcare is raising people. Being part of the years that build someone’s foundation is not only fun, and there will be days when it is hard. Those are the days to remember why you chose this work.

  6. Choose what feels good

When in doubt, choose what makes your heart glad — enjoyment is catching. Children have no walls in their hearts, no prejudice. Let the adults show them a world without walls, and let’s fly around it together.

  7. Stop fossilising

Resting on your qualifications or your years of experience is the end. A professional is someone who keeps learning and grows richer with the years — and that light is in the children’s best interest too.

  8. Keep thinking

Every child in front of you is different; what worked last time may not work for the next child, and that is everyday life here. Assume the current way is not necessarily the best one, and keep thinking. Let’s work out a better environment together, and build it.

  9. Stories change as they pass along

Take your questions to someone who can give a constructive answer. Told to the wrong person, a small question grows branches, turns into trouble, and costs you trust.

The interview採用面接

  1. There is nothing to revise for.
  2. We do not ask for a particular level of English, but loving English matters.
  3. At interview we will ask how you think about caring for children.
  4. Please bring something to write with (no erasable friction pens).
  5. There is a questionnaire to fill in.

Children are not raised by advanced childcare technique. However fluent someone is, and however good their care, without ethics and a moral sense they are not the human environment RaJA wants to be. Through talking with you we hope to glimpse your inner character and your bearing; we are looking for people who will bring the same warmth to the philosophy and direction we hold to.

  • There may be interns with us from junior high, high school, university or vocational college — thank you for understanding.
