Message from the founder

To hold a question is to hold the rudder of your own life.

Representative Director & CEO Sayaka Salliee Fukushima

By the time they turn three, children have already stored up everything they have seen, heard and touched as a great many small experiences.

Each one of them is a treasure asleep in the sea of learning, one the child has not yet noticed for themselves.

  • “What is this?”
  • “Why does it happen this way?”
  • “I want to know more.”

The moment the heart stirs, a child holds a question that is theirs alone, and begins to dive into the sea of learning.

RaJA GLOBAL ACADEMY is a place where each child takes that “I want to know more” as a compass and draws a course of their own.

What we value is not leading children to answers that adults have prepared.

It is that they ask for themselves, look into things, try, sometimes fail, exchange ideas with their friends, and find an answer that is their own.

Through the inquiry-based learning we practise as an IB PYP candidate school, and through RaJA STREAM, our own integrated education, we do not cut learning apart into separate subjects. We grow the ability to look at one question from many angles and to understand it more deeply.

English, too, is not there simply to be memorised.

  • To say what you think.
  • To listen to a different way of thinking.
  • To explore a question together with someone, across countries and cultures.

English is the language that widens a child’s sea of learning and connects them to the world.

At the origin of the RaJA Philosophy is my own experience of being excluded, again and again, simply because I was different from those around me.

Because I know the pain of not being accepted, I believe that a difference must never cost anyone their place, or their possibilities.

Each child holds a different question, learns at a different pace, and arrives at a different answer.

It is those very differences that make the sea we learn in together so rich.

RaJA wants to be a sun that selects no one and shines equally on everyone.

Whatever a child’s character or background, we want to give them a warm environment in which they can safely ask in their own way, take on challenges, and dive deep.

Parents cannot learn or experience life on behalf of their children.

What we can give them, however, is an environment in which they can carry their learning forward under their own power.

“To create an environment I would wholeheartedly choose as a gift for my own children—and offer it to every child.”

RaJA’s early childhood education was born from this wish, the wish of one mother.

RaJA Co., Ltd. is rooted in study abroad and has built relationships with educational institutions around the world. We still visit educational settings across the globe today, and we keep renewing our education by turning what we learn there into the form RaJA’s children truly need.

The curiosity a child finds in the sea of the Academy, and the ability to think for themselves, lead on in time to the continents and islands that C-Lab and +Education open up, and to the world that lies beyond the horizon.

I look forward with all my heart to the day when each child, with their own question held close, takes the rudder in their own hands and sets sail onto an open sea of their own.

Wider than the sky, deeper than the sea, and warmer than the sun.
That is the learning environment we want to give to every child.
